Will Ospreay‘s time in New Japan Pro-Wrestling came to an end at NJPW New Beginning in Osaka.
Will Ospreay signed with AEW, as revealed at AEW Full Gear 2023. However, he agreed to finish up with NJPW before he joined the company. Ospreay competed in his last NJPW singles match at NJPW Battle in the Valley. His final bout with the promotion came at NJPW New Beginning in Osaka on February 11.
In a violent, hard-fought war, the Bullet Club War Dogs defeated Ospreay and United Empire in a Steel Cage match, which had WarGames rules. The match went over an hour, and Ospreay emotionally said goodbye to the crowd after the bell.
Ospreay shared his thoughts in his backstage comments following the match. There, he confirmed that he can still work NJPW shows while under contract with AEW.
As of this writing, it is not known when Will Ospreay will fully join AEW. He is set to face Michael Okeu at RevPro High Stakes on February 18; the bout is expected to be his last one on the independent scene before he moves to AEW.
